JUPITER:


he is the supreme deity of the Pantheon, and he is the father of the Gods. God of heaven, presides over atmospheric changes. He is married to the goddess Juno, who however betrays with numerous divine and mortal girls. In pictorial and sculptural representations he is represented together with elements such as lightning (the thunderbolt), the scepter, the bull, the eagle and the oak, and is characterized by a thick beard, long hair crowned with laurel, naked torso and cloak on the legs. There are numerous myths also represented in pictorial cycles.
In the sculpture the lightning that Jupiter throws with all his power is remembered, while the blue painting resembles an impetuous sky ready to deploy a strong storm.
